Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics Online Learning Units
The Postgraduate Diploma in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics consists of 6 online learning units with a total of 25 teaching modules, delivered by a international faculty of over 30 expert lecturers.
The first learning unit will introduce embryology, growth and development of the face and jaws. This will provide students with an understanding of the biology of tooth moments in orthodontics.

This unit will provide the foundations required for accurate problem identification, case diagnosis and treatment planning.

This unit introduces the appliances used in modern orthodontics, including fixed, removable and functional appliances, and clear aligners.

- Lingual Orthodontics.

Explore the presentation and treatment of class I, II and III malocclusions. The module will also develop understanding on vertical and horizontal issues such as open bite and asymmetries. Retention, relapse and long-term stability of cases is explained.

To facilitate this practical element of the course, all Diploma students receive a comprehensive Practical Training Kit to ensure they are fully prepared to begin treating their first patients.
The complementary kit includes training models, typodonts, orthodontic instruments and equipment for the practical training exercises covered in the course. Build your practical skills through demonstration videos and training exercises, and use your Orthodontic Practical Kit to facilitate the treatment of your patients.
The Practical Training Kit is included in the overall course cost and will be shipped to you at no additional charge, regardless of location.

Diploma Entrance Requirements
- Possess a primary dental qualification (for example, BDS or equivalent).
- Have a minimum of one year’s experience as a registered dental practitioner.
- Be able to demonstrate English language proficiency (if English is not a first language).
Assessment
Throughout the year of study, there will be three multiple-choice exams to test knowledge of the theoretical concepts covered in the course. Alongside these assessments, students must complete a final case study presentation, which provides the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to apply the course material to real-world clinical scenarios.

1. 100% Online Study – the second study option is completely online, allowing student to gain their PG Diploma qualification without having to travel for training.

Our bespoke online orthodontic course e-learning platform has been designed to ensure students have the best and most accessible distance learning experience. All our postgraduate students will have access to hundreds of hours of online lecture content packed with detailed information from dental experts. The lectures are released sequentially and are then available throughout the course so you can refer back to them at any time you want.

We will delve deeper into specific topics, teach practical techniques and present treatment of complex cases during regular online live webinars. Most webinars last 1-2 hours with plenty of time for questions included. All live webinars are recorded, so no need to worry if you miss one or want to watch one again later.

Students will also be given access to a private discussion group where you can get to know your colleagues from around the world, discuss topics further and receive private mentoring and coaching if you require. There is no such thing as a stupid question and we actively encourage you to ask as many questions as you want, no query is too basic or too complex.

2. Blended Learning – combining online study with a practical face to face teaching week held in London. This approach enables our students to gain their PG Diploma qualification with minimal time away from work.

The face to face teaching week is optional and not a requirement for the diploma. Additional fees apply for the face to face teaching week in London.
Following successful completion of the course, students will be officially awarded the LDi Postgraduate Diploma in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics (PG Dip. Ortho). This course has been accredited as Level 7 by the official awarding body EduQual Level 7. EduQual is a regulated awarding body, approved by SQA-Accreditation, a globally-recognised national qualifications regulator in the UK.
Students will be taught both theoretical and practical skills, in order to further their skills and confidence in the orthodontic field. Our students should be able to use their knowledge to provide a grounding for a future career in orthodontics.

It should be noted that this is not a specialist training programme. Students are advised to investigate the specific requirements for treating orthodontic patients within the country in which they intend to practise, as this may vary.
Applicants should hold a primary dental qualification (for example, BDS or equivalent). Documentation will need to be provided of this and of dental registration. Internet access is required for online learning . Students are expected to be actively working in general dental practice. Ideally, they will have attended some basic orthodontic courses and to have treated some simple orthodontic cases already to have a basic understanding of orthodontic treatments.
The course is taught in English therefore both written and spoken understanding of the English language is required. It is expected that applicants are of the equivalent proficiency to IELTS Level 7 (or equivalent). This will ensure that students are able to gain the most from their experience. All online orthodontic course teaching will be delivered through a variety of teaching styles including lectures, webinars, and demonstrations of relevant techniques. Students will be encouraged to start treating patients in their own clinic/office during the course and mentoring for clinical cases will be provided by course tutors.
All Postgraduate Diploma students have the option to attend one week-long face to face orthodontic conference/teaching block in London. Travel to London is optional and is not a requirement for the Diploma course. Additional fees apply for the orthodontic conference.
