Eligibility Policy

In order to purchase and enrol in one of the Courses/Programmes offered at the London Dental Institute (“LDI”), you must meet certain eligibility requirements. The following eligibility requirements apply to all programmes offered at LDI, and each programme will have its own specific eligibility requirements which can be found on the dedicated programme page.

To be eligible for enrolment in one of LDI’s Courses/Programmes, you will need to have the required educational and professional qualifications:

1. Basic Educational and Qualification Requirements

Recognised Dental Qualification: You will need to hold an undergraduate dental degree (usually a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) or equivalent).

You will be asked to submit proof of educational and professional qualifications before commencement of your studies.

2. Clinical Experience

Clinical Experience: While specialist clinical experience is not required to participate in our programmes, prospective students may find it helpful to have professional experience working in a general dental practice or hospital setting.

Professional References: You may be asked to submit professional references. If asked, these should come from individuals who can speak to your clinical skills, professional behavior, and potential for success in a postgraduate academic environment. Typically, one reference should be from a clinical supervisor or mentor.

3. English Language Proficiency

All of LDI’s Courses/Programmes are taught in English. For non-native English speakers, proof of English language proficiency may be required.

Accepted English Language Tests and Minimum Scores:

  • IELTS: Overall 6.5 (minimum 6.0 in each component)
  • TOEFL iBT: Overall 90 (minimum 21 in each component)
  • PTE Academic: Overall 59 (minimum 59 in each component)
  • Cambridge English: CAE (176 overall), CPE (176 overall)

Alternative Evidence:

  • A degree or qualification taught in English from a recognised institution.
  • Significant professional or academic experience in an English-speaking environment.

Exemptions: Applicants from majority English-speaking countries or those with a prior degree taught entirely in English may be exempt from submitting a language test.

4. Technology and Connectivity

LDI Courses/Programmes are offered as online learning only and are fully electronic.

To ensure successful participation in the programme, applicants must meet the following technology and connectivity requirements:

1.Computer/Device: A laptop or desktop computer (Windows or macOS) is recommended for optimal performance. 2.Operating System: Windows 10 or later, or macOS 10.12 (Sierra) or later. 3.Web Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Safari. Microsoft Edge may also be compatible, but other browsers are not guaranteed to work with programme materials. 4.Internet Connection: A stable internet connection with a minimum speed of 5 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload is required for attending live webinars and Zoom meetings. 5.Audio and Video: A microphone and webcam are required for interactive participation in live sessions (e.g., Zoom meetings, webinars). 6.Software: Access to Zoom for live webinars and meetings (downloadable from the official Zoom website). Any additional programme-specific software or platforms (e.g., learning management systems, virtual labs) will be detailed on the specific programme page.
