Diploma entrance requirements
To enrol in the Diploma in Dental Implantology and Oral Surgery course, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Possess a primary dental qualification (e.g., BDS or equivalent).
- Hold a minimum of one year's experience as a registered dental practitioner.
Assessment
Throughout the course, you will complete three examinations consisting of multiple-choice and short answer questions to evaluate your understanding of the theoretical concepts covered.
Qualification
Upon successful completion, you will be awarded the Diploma in Dental Implantology and Oral Surgery – a prestigious UK-accredited qualification that showcases your expertise in implant surgery.
Our Diploma is accredited in partnership with EduQual, a regulated awarding body, approved by SQA Accreditation, a globally-recognised qualifications regulator in the UK.
The course meets the Level 7 teaching hour requirements of a Level 7 course, equivalent to a Master’s level qualification.

Surgical Patient Assessment: Master comprehensive patient assessment, including clinical examinations, medical history review, and risk stratification. Learn to implement appropriate imaging protocols, assess bleeding and anaesthesia risks, and ensure psychological preparedness. Additionally, gain critical pharmacological knowledge to make informed prescribing decisions, manage pain and infection, and understand antibiotic prophylaxis and drug interactions, all while adhering to evidence-based practices.
Implant and Surgical Anatomy: Refresh essential knowledge of oral and maxillofacial anatomy, covering skeletal, neurovascular, and soft tissue structures critical for implant placement and oral surgery. This module emphasises the identification of anatomical risk factors and the interpretation of radiographic images to ensure precise and safe surgical planning.
CBCT and Radiology: Learn the principles of CBCT imaging and radiological diagnosis. This module will teach you how to plan, perform and interpret radiographic examinations, helping you make informed surgical decisions and enhance diagnostic accuracy.
Essential Surgical Skills: Develop proficiency in the fundamental skills required in oral surgical procedures including asepsis, surgical gowning, anaesthesia administration, and atraumatic extraction techniques. You’ll also master ridge preservation, flap design, and suturing techniques, ensuring optimal healing and patient outcomes. Practical guidelines for post-operative care and management of complications are also covered.
Clinical Research: Enhance your ability to critically evaluate and apply research findings in your clinical practice, building on research methodologies introduced in earlier units. This module reinforces the importance of evidence-based decision-making in surgical and implant dentistry.

All students receive a comprehensive practical kit with models and equipment required to complete the practical training exercises that are provided throughout the course.Â
The learning experience is further enhanced by our monthly live sessions, the Live Study Clubs. Held on Zoom, these interactive sessions allow students to ask questions, engage with their lecturers, and gain real-time insights into challenging topics. While these sessions are conducted live, all recordings are made available on the VLE, ensuring you can revisit or catch up on any material at your convenience.
All students receive a comprehensive practical kit, complete with models and equipment needed to perform the hands-on training exercises integrated throughout the course.Â
Through clinical demonstrations, virtual simulations, and case scenarios, this practical kit is instrumental in developing your implant surgical skills. With the confidence gained from this practice you will quickly feel ready to treat live patients using the techniques learned.
Whilst the Diploma qualification is studied 100% online, we also offer the opportunity for our groups to attend face to face teaching here in London.Â
All students will have the option to attend a residential conference programme held in Central London, alongside any other of our live events. This gives a great opportunity to meet the teaching faculty and peers in an open learning environment. Delegates will benefit from learning advanced techniques and detailed hands-on training from both UK and international experts.
These events are designed to maximise your learning experience, whilst still keeping time away from practice to a minimum. Upgrading to include these is optional and not a requirement for the Diploma Qualification (additional fees apply).

Unlike other dental schools in the UK, including the Royal Colleges, there is no requirement to submit a personal statement with your application. In addition, we welcome students without UK visas to our 100% remote course.
Students are encouraged to treat patients in their clinic during the course. Mentoring and preparation for clinical cases will be provided by course tutors online through the case support feature of the VLE. Our expert tutor team is on hand throughout your course to support you with even the most challenging of your cases.
While we would love to welcome you to our live events in London, travel to the UK is not required for completing the Diploma programme.
