The story so far
Frustrated by overpriced, ineffective online learning for dentists, our founders James and John envisioned a better way to learn. As postgraduate dental students, they craved practical skills and real-world preparation, but existing courses missed the mark.
A new approach
We knew that today’s dentists needed a learning approach that would bridge the gap between theoretical and practical training while still learning from home.
With this in mind, the LDI was created – teaching world-class postgraduate dentistry programmes on an innovative online platform that fuses cutting-edge online curriculum with hands-on Practical Training Kits.

Meet the Founders
Dr. James Mackenzie
Founder, London Dental Institute
After graduating from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 2009 with a Merit in Clinical Dentistry, Dr. James Mackenzie pursued extensive postgraduate training across Europe, including a Postgraduate Diploma from the University of Aarhus and an MSc in Specialised Orthodontics from IMC Münster.
He is currently undertaking a Postgraduate Certificate in Dental Education at the University of Cambridge, bringing contemporary educational theory into the design and development of all LDI programmes.
Dr. John Fagbemi
Founder, London Dental Institute
A graduate of Newcastle University, Dr. John Fagbemi completed an MSc in Aesthetic Dentistry with distinction at King’s College London, followed by further specialist training in orthodontics and dental implantology through international MSc programmes in Germany and Spain.
His clinical work focuses on managing complex cases in orthodontics, implantology, and advanced restorative dentistry. Alongside practice, Dr Fagbemi has held academic roles as a Clinical Lecturer, Postgraduate Tutor, and Examiner at King’s College London, contributing to blended-learning MSc programmes and mentoring postgraduate clinicians.
