For many dentists, January brings a moment to pause and reset. The festive break fades into memory, clinics regain their familiar rhythm, and there’s a renewed sense of focus as the year begins. It’s often a time for reflection: thinking about where you are professionally, where you’d like to be, and what the year ahead might hold.
But at the London Dental Institute, January is anything but quiet!
In fact, it’s typically our busiest month of the year. As we prepare for the first enrolment of 2026, the weeks are filled with applications, onboarding new faculty members, and continuing to develop and refine course content. It’s an energising time behind the scenes, and one that sets the tone for the months ahead.
Here’s a look at what’s been happening across the LDi as we begin the year.
What’s New Across Our Courses
Continuous development is central to how we work, and January has brought some valuable additions across our programmes.
Within Orthodontics, we’ve introduced new webinars led by Dr. Sunny Gill, focusing on Clear Aligner Integration for Module 11, and Dr. Usman Qureshi, who has delivered sessions on Class II and Class III management for Module 17. These topics reflect areas where clinicians often seek greater clarity and confidence, and the feedback so far has been encouraging.
Within the Diploma in Dental Implantology & Oral Surgery, Dr. Maged Abdelaal has contributed a new webinar on All-on-X workflows for Module 17. This session offers valuable insight into a complex and increasingly relevant aspect of implant practice, supporting clinicians as they deepen their understanding and planning skills. For graduates, it’s worth noting that members of the LDI Graduate Network retain access to new course content as it’s released. If you’ve already completed a diploma, simply log into the VLE and explore these latest additions as part of your membership.

New Practical Resources on the VLE
Alongside new teaching sessions, we’ve also made a significant number of updates to the Virtual Learning Environment, particularly within Orthodontics. These additions are focused firmly on practical learning and day-to-day clinical application.
A wide range of new practical PDFs has been added across several modules, covering core techniques such as bonding and debonding, placing and repairing attachments, the use of buttons and separation elastics, and managing both anterior and posterior bite ramps. We’ve also expanded our resources on metal components, along with both basic and advanced techniques for tying an archwire.
These materials sit across Modules 8, 10, and 11 and are designed to be revisited as often as needed. Whether you’re consolidating learning, preparing for clinical application, or simply refreshing a technique, these resources are there to support confidence and consistency in practice.
Live Study Clubs: Building on Strong Momentum
A highlight from last year was the continued growth of Live Study Clubs. That momentum carried through into December, when we welcomed 613 attendees across four Live Study Clubs. It’s a figure that speaks not only to engagement, but to the appetite within our profession for thoughtful discussion and continued development.
We have four more Live Study Clubs coming up in January, and our faculty would be delighted to see both familiar and new faces joining us. These sessions remain a cornerstone of the LDi experience, bringing clinicians together from around the world to learn, reflect, and share perspectives.
